Mentor Program

Goal: Facilitate the WWU Accounting Professional-Student mentor program.

  • The program is designed to help students prepare for the transitions to their professional careers by connecting them with a seasoned WWU Accounting Alumni professional
  • The program runs during the academic year from October through May
  • In person meetings between the student and professional are encouraged
  • The Board pairs students based on their  geographic location and professional area based off of a survey taken at registration
  • Guidelines for the program and suggested topics are provided

Networking Events

Goal: Organize accounting alumni social networking events twice per year in Seattle and Bellingham.

  • The networking events are meant to provide a fun and casual venue to build meaningful connections and relationships among WWU Accounting Alumni.
  • Events are for Accounting Alumni and invitations are sent via e-mail to those who have provided their contact information to WWU. Registration for the events can also be found in the WWU Accounting Alumni Network LinkedIn group.
  • Previous networking event venues include:
    • Flatstick Pub, SODO Seattle
    • Weyerhaeuser Corporate HQ rooftop lounge, SODO Seattle
    • Hops ‘N Headz Pub, Bellingham
    • The Local Public House, Bellingham

Curriculum Review

Goal: Develop feedback questions for accounting alumni regarding their WWU Accounting program experience and its influence in their profession. The Board will provide these questions to the Accounting Department to formalize, administer, and compile results for analysis by the WWU Accounting Advisory Board, the Accounting Department, and the WWU Young Accounting Advisory Board.
