Beta: Scholarship

Alpha: Social Responsibility

Psi: Practicality

Beta represents Scholarship. We are, first and foremost, students who are either studying accounting, finance, or MIS as undergraduates, or pursuing a Masters in Business Administration.

Alpha represents Social Responsibility. Our members commit themselves to performing a substantial amount of service to the university, to the community, and to the chapter. We staff a tutorial center in Parks Hall, to provide assistance to students enrolled in ACCT 240, ACCT 245, and ACCT 341. Many of our members also participate in VITA, a program that provides free income tax assistance to the community. We also organize several service events each quarter to assist community organizations such as Habitat for Humanity, Blue Skies for Children, and the Bellingham Food Bank. Every year, our members perform over 1,300 hours of service.

Psi represents Practicality. As students who aspire to become members of the accounting profession, we seek to learn more about the profession and to regularly interact with accounting professionals. In addition to their service commitment, our members promise to participate regularly in professional activities. This includes weekly meetings (at least six per quarter) which are devoted to professional topics and many of which are hosted by accounting professionals, invitations to career days at accounting firms in Bellingham and in Seattle, our regular Meet the Professionals night held in early October in Seattle, and our Spring Banquet in May. Every year, our members participate in over 1,500 hours of professional activities.
